Moby & Mylene Farmer: Slipping Away
Moby & Mylene Farmer: Slipping Away
Oh dear. I just saw a brilliant video on MCM: “Slipping Away/Crier la vie” by Moby and Mylène Farmer. One of the things that grabbed my attention was the fact that the lyrics are incorporated into the visuals – rather cleverly too. So I couldn’t resist checking out the lyrics on Paroles.net.
Well, what can I say? Mylène Farmer is a breathless French singer that is known for rather grand fluffiness. And she does herself proud on this track! Her contributions are almost incomprehensible. It’s almost as if a second track was mashed into the original. Moby is not the world’s best lyricist, but Farmer…

Slipping Away (Crier la vie)
All that we needed, was right
Les ombres ce soir nous menacent (the shadows threaten us tonight)
Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good, meme si tout va si mal (even when everything goes so badly)
Voir le soleil quand la nuit nous accable (to see the sun when night overwhelms us)
Oh, pour un jour croire aux dieux croire aux fables (oh to believe in gods, to believe in fables)
Focus on everything better today
Crier la vie quand tout autour se tait (crying life when everything around is silent)
Hold on to people they’re slipping away
Hold on to this while it’s slipping away
All that we needed, tonight
Are people who love us, and life
Je sais les douleurs et les doutes (I know the pain and doubts)
Oh, partir et ce qu’on redoute (Oh, to leave and what we are afraid of)
Oh siiiii (oh yeeees)
Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good, meme si tout va si mal (even when everything goes so badly)
Femmes au soleil quand la nuit nous accable (women in the sun when night overwhelms us)
Oh, pour un jour croire au dieu croire aux fables (oh to believe in gods, to believe in fables)
Focus on everything better today
Crier la vie quand tout autour se tait (crying life when everything around is silent)
Hold on to people they’re slipping away
Hold on to this while it’s slipping away
So long
Mais l’ombre… (But the shadow…)
Thanks for the translation. I have been looking everywhere for the translation. The video for this song is so powerful and emotional.
there is a mistake in the lyrics :
It is not “Femmes au soleil quand la nuit nous accable”
but “voir le soleil quand la nuit nous accable”.
best regards
Thanks Pascal. It makes more sense. I often complain about how inaccurate lyric sites can be, so I welcome you pointing this out.
